Remember When Fibreglass Turtles Invaded Lowestoft?

in 2015 Fourteen gigantic fibreglass turtles were placed around Lowestoft, forming a ‘Turtle Trail’ for avid adventurers to find.

It came after the success of Norwich’s ‘Gorilla Trail’, a collection of gorillas around the city which significantly boosted Norwich’s economy. Lowestoft’s turtley equivalent featured several of these amusing creatures, each a metre long and painted colourfully to reflect some of the town’s most famous attractions and places.The Lowestoft turtle trail is was in full swing, and people has to enter quickly for your chance to win!

Representing the town’s connections with the sea and local organisations such as Lowestoft Town FC, the turtles were displayed from inside shops and public buildings. There was even a £500 prize for people who managed to find all of the Lowestoft turtle trail turtles as well as completing an anagram composed of letters found on the turtles. They were here until the end of August, and their fate afterwards was a charity auction raffle to become owners of these fantastic LowestofT Turtles!
