Crown Meadow Football Stadium in Lowestoft is a must-see destination for all football aficionados.
Crown Meadow, is home of the Lowestoft Town Fotball Club, who are known as Mighty Blues or Trawler Boys, and is situated in a residential area in north Lowestoft, so beware as parking can be difficult on match days.
Lowestoft Town have been a very successful team in recent years and the culmination of all that recent success came in May 2014, when the club sealed promotion into the Football conference for the first time in its history, now just two promotions from League 2. This promotion superseded events in 2008 when joint managers Micky Chapman and Ady Gallagher proudly led their squad out onto the hallowed Wembley pitch in the FA Vase final. On a blazing hot Sunday afternoon in front of over 14,000 Lowestoft supporters, the Blues were in the lead for three quarters of the game before conceding a last minute goal to lose out to Kirkham & Wesham by the odd goal of three. However, with a thriving youth system and a seemingly endless stream of exciting new talent in the wings the future of Lowestoft Town football Club is certainly looking bright.
The Crown-meadow ground itself is rather sparse on three sides, but has a very impressive stand on the other. This stand is fully covered, and offers shelter for around 1000 standing fans.
There is a small tea bar which is usually open an hour or so before the game, and remains so until just before the final whistle. There is also hot & cold drinks, and home made pies as well as the usual selection of crisps and confectionery. The social club/club house, offers lots of beer and alcoholic beverages as per usual pub opening hours. This club house also provides hot bar snacks/basket meals, which are very good value. There is also a club shop, which is open before the game and half time, with all the usual great merchandise on sale. So make sure you visit the home of the Trawler Boys!
