Nicholas Everitt Park in Oulton Broad has kept its prestigious Green Flag status for a seventh year.

2017 is a bumper year for the nation’s parks, with a record-breaking 1,797 sites across the UK being awarded Green Flag status. The award, which aims to recognise the best parks and green spaces in the country, is Oulton Broad’s seventh, cementing Nicholas Everitt’s status as one of the best parks in the region.

The park’s high environmental standards, beautifully maintained lawns, beds, and paths were singled out for praise by the judging panel, as were the excellent visitor facilities. These include the cafe and arcade at the edge of the park, as well as some nearby local attractions like Pets Corner

Oulton Broad’s Nicholas Everitt Park is a classic, traditional English public park which is hugely popular with locals and tourists alike. With its bandstand, marina-side benches and winding paths, it offers visitors the Great British municipal park experience.

As well as being a fantastic spot for a picnic, dog walk, or family day out, the park is used throughout the year for a wide programme of events. All summer long it is the scene of some intense powerboat racing, while year round you can find sailing clubs along the marina’s edge, as well as the many fishermen who congregate.

The park has been supported for over 20 years by the Friends of Nicholas Everitt Park, who carry out voluntary activities and help to keep the park inviting, green, and unmistakably British.

The park is surrounded by all sorts of businesses, from yacht equipment suppliers to curry houses, convenience stores to fantastic pubs, including the Waveney, where you can find a fantastic lunch menu along with a huge selection of your favourite beers, wines, and liqueurs.
