Fourteen gigantic fibreglass turtles have been placed around Lowestoft, forming a ‘Turtle Trail’ for avid adventurers to find.
It comes after the success of Norwich’s ‘Gorilla Trail’, a collection of gorillas around the city which significantly boosted Norwich’s economy. Lowestoft’s turtley equivalent features several of these amusing creatures, each a metre long and painted colourfully to reflect some of the town’s most famous attractions and places. The Lowestoft turtle trail is already in full swing, so you’d better enter quickly for your chance to win!
Representing the town’s connections with the sea and local organisations such as Lowestoft Town FC, the turtles are to be displayed from inside shops and public buildings. There’s even going to be a £500 prize for people who manage to find all of the Lowestoft turtle trail turtles as well as completing an anagram composed of letters found on the turtles. They will be there until the end of August, and their fate afterwards is yet to be decided.
